Free & Equal Elections Foundation Announces Panel Discussion at the Goldwater Institute

Free & Equal Unites Experts to Discuss Problems with Arizona’s Version of the Top Two Primary System - Proposition 121

Free and Equal Elections Foundation today announced a panel discussion uniting experts to examine the problems with Arizona’s Proposition 121, dubbed the “Open” Elections / “Open” Government Act.

“Top two primary systems are intentionally confusing to voters, make the incumbent stranglehold more powerful, eliminate 3rd party views while interfering with internal policies of all parties, and enable big money to control our elections and eliminate our choices,” stated Christina Tobin, founder and chair of Free & Equal and the nationwide Stop Top Two efforts. “It does not result in more moderate candidates for the general election as its followers claim.”

The panel discussion will take place at The Goldwater Institute auditorium at 500 E. Coronado Road in Phoenix Arizona on October 9, at 11:00am local time. Barbara Klein, President League of Women Voters of Arizona will serve as facilitator. Panel participants include: Arizona Green Party Co-Chairman Angel Torres, Arizona Libertarian Party communications director Barry Hess, Save our Vote Arizona legal counsel and Republican Michael Liburdi, Arizona Democratic Party executive director Luis Heredia, and Christina Tobin.

Panel discussion sponsors include Fair Vote Arizona, League of Women Voters Arizona, Libertarian Party of Arizona, Green Party of Arizona, Save Our Vote Arizona,Arizona Advocacy Network, and Stop Top Two. More sponsors will be announced shortly.

The panel discussion will be broadcast live online at http://www.freeandequal.org/live.

We invite the audience and Top Two supporters to bring their questions.
